This is my pandemic song.
I think back to 2020 when we were in the grips of COVID. Remember all of the uncertainty? We didn’t know much about COVID in those early days. The lives we lived, the routines we followed, suddenly came to a halt. We locked our doors and isolated ourselves from our known world.
I remember wiping down groceries, overdosing on hand sanitizer and doing whatever I could to remain “safe.” To complicate matters, we were inundated with the daily unhinged rants from the former Orange Turd occupant in the White House.
It was a trying time and I did everything I could to cope and retain my sanity. That’s where “Change in the Weather” came from.
Change in the Weather
Waves keep on breaking
crash at my door
all this confusion
I can’t take any more
I’ll ride out the storm
it can’t last forever
change in the weather
Cold front approaching
winds churn and growl
pressure keeps falling
minds run afoul
I keep holding on
and hope it gets better
change in the weather
In the eye of the storm
an eerie calm forms
and then you remember
change in the weather
Days blend together
weeks come and go
fog keeps converging
when it lifts, I don’t know
May it all float away
light as a feather
change in the weather
