Here’s another song from my Music Vault. “Hollow Gold” was originally written in the 1980′s, during my “restless youth” phase.
This version of the song was originally recorded when I moved into my current Tangled Wire Studio digs in the basement of stately Marwood Manor. While it is a primitive recording, (done in Cakewalk Pro Audio 9). at the time I was happy to have this old song idea is a completed form.
I’ve put together a collection of some of my older more electric guitar orientated recordings. It’s my European Version of Marwood’s Music Vault. Click the photo for a link or visit my download page.
From time to time, I will dig through my music vault and post some older recordings.
The first edition of Marwood’s Music Vault features 2 versions of my song Electric Guitar Interlude. There’s about a 15 year gap between the 2 versions.
This recording dates back to 2004/2005. The production of this song started at the original Seattle location of “Tangled Wire Studios” and ended up being the 1st song I completed in my current digs (the basement of Marwood Manor.) This version features Jeff (I am sorry I don’t know his last name) on Drums and “crunch” rhythm guitar.
Now for a real blast from the past – here’s the original idea – Circa 1989.
This version is from the late 1980′s, was recorded in Kingston, PA and was the first “Completed” song done on my old Tascam Portastudio 4-track cassette recorder. The quality isn’t the greatest – The tape stock has degraded over the years – and the playing has some rough spots. At the time, however, I was was very happy to put something together. I owe a lot of thanks to my old friend Terry, who lent me an Yamaha Reverb box. (I am not sure of the model – but it might be a Yamaha Rex 50.)
I am having trouble uploading my files to my bandcamp page, which for the time being puts a hold on my downloads and such.
In the meantime, here are 4 more mp3 streams:
The songs include:
2nd Song: I’m So Glad You’re My Friend
3rd Song: Stuck in a Rut
4th song: Look at Us Now
Last Song: Boris Blues
All of the songs I am streaming – the 4 in this post and the 1 song in the previous post – represent what I have been working on. I still have a couple more songs I need to finish and mix, which I hope to be adding to this site in the coming days.
Next up on my agenda is re-tooling my studio with my new mixer.
